The GTSDC is a new type of sub-synchronous damping controller based on power electronic converter technology, consisting of a damping controller and a power electronic converter. It is designed to address sub-synchronous oscillation issues in thermal and nuclear generating units caused by series-compensated transmission lines, HVDC systems, and large-scale renewable energy integration. By injecting controlled sub-synchronous current at the generator terminals when sub-synchronous oscillations occur, the GTSDC effectively suppresses oscillations in the generating unit.
Capable of addressing various SSR conditions with strong damping capability and fast subsynchronous oscillation attenuation.
Injecting subsynchronous current into the generator/grid enables more direct and precise damping control without introducing harmonic pollution.
Based on new controllable power electronic switching devices, featuring current-source characteristics, low harmonic distortion, and fast dynamic response.
Output current is not limited by bus voltage, offering high robustness and rapid response.
Implemented using power electronic conversion technology, significantly reducing equipment footprint and installation requirements.
Damping capability can be flexibly configured by adjusting system capacity.
